Julie is a partner and clinical negligence expert at Barratts, with 20 years’ experience acting for clients with serious injuries, including brain injury. Many of her cases involve children with cerebral palsy, but she also acts for clients who have suffered injury as a result of surgery or treatment in hospital or by a GP.
Julie joined Barratts in 2014 to work in a niche practice where the client comes first and knows that their case will always be handled by a senior lawyer. It is refreshing to work with other lawyers who have over 100 years’ experience between them of handling the most complex cases.
Julie not only looks after the client but the whole family who have been affected by a brain injury. It is important to get the right advice quickly and her relationship with medical experts helps to secure early input about the case. Clinical negligence cases take a long time to litigate and it is essential to feel supported by your lawyer, which is why Julie is so pleased that nearly all her clients are personally referred to her.
As well as being appointed to the Law Society’s Clinical Negligence Panel, Julie is consistently recognised as a leader in her field by Chambers and Legal 500, independent legal guides. She has worked closely with AvMA over many years as well as supporting organisations and charities for brain injured clients.
