To give the 2014 Road Safety Week campaign a bit of a boost, we invited a few friends to lend a hand …
We wanted to help raise awareness of safe cycling, which is why we suggested a competition about designing a cycle helmet to the schools we worked with. And to help things along, we approached a number of well known names and faces from all walks of life – entertainment, children’s literature, sport – to show their support.
It was a simple enough idea: we sent our ‘celebrities’ a plain white cycle helmet and asked them to decorate it or just to autograph it to inspire the 4000 children taking part, and to help us raise funds for Brake, the charity behind Road Safety Week, by auctioning the helmets to the highest bidders.
By sharing the pictures of our celebrities and their helmets on social media throughout Road Safety Week we helped Brake to share its vital safety messages, and raised funds to enable the charity to continue its valuable work.
The auction is now closed, but you can still see images of the helmets below.
Our thanks to everyone who helped us out, and to Leisure Lakes Bikes who generously donated the helmets.
