Meet The Team

The team at the Brain Injury Group are either medically or financially trained and are here to listen to your concerns or needs and signpost you to the relevent support to meet your needs.

Alex Demetrious-Seymour

Director

Alex’s group of businesses has supported in excess of 180,000 clients throughout the litigation process with expert witness reports and rehabilitation.

The vast majority of clients have sustained life changing injuries.

Alex is passionate about rehabilitation, access to justice and client care.

Clare Harrison

Head of Business Operations

Clare has worked supporting those with brain injuries for the last 18 years.  Her expertise is in providing financial guidance and support to injured people and their families. She also has experience providing financial expert witness reports to assist where there may be a claim for compensation. 

More recently she has headed up both operations and strategy teams ensuring that the right team, processes and support is in place to provide the right guidance when it is needed most.

Rachel Larkin

Clinical Lead

Rachael has over ten years’ experience working with those with brain and spinal injuries. She has worked at various levels across the NHS , locality Clinical Commissioning Groups, independent case management and care providers.

This has given her vital knowledge to liaise with multidisciplinary professionals to support clients in meeting their priorities and levels of independence, whilst ensuring safe and robust care delivery.
Rachael has a proactive approach to ensure clients can have fulfilling lives despite their injuries.

Francis Lacy-Scott

Consultant Legal Training Adviser

Francis is the co-founder of BIG and has been the training advisor to the group ever since. He has now retired from practising as a solicitor having founded the Sussex based firm, ASB Aspire LLP, a specialist catastrophic injury firm, where he was senior partner, specialising in complex TBI claims.  Francis previously chaired Headway Hurstwood Park (now Headway Sussex) for a number of years.   He is currently chair of the Sussex Acquired Brain Injury Forum (SABIF).

He has been nationally recognised for his work in the field of brain injury by being awarded the prestigious UKABIK award for innovation. In 2021 he was named by the Legal 500 as the UK (outside London) insurance lawyer of the year.  He is passionate about high quality, innovative but practical training.

Alex Pett- Clinical Advisor

Alex Pett

Clinical Advisor

Alex brings his medical background to the BIG team, having previously earned his degree in Medicine from the University of Manchester.

Ever since graduating he has been learning his craft in the medicolegal industry, now heading the Clinical Negligence and Serious Injury department at UKExpertMedical, alongside his role with us at BIG.

Alex has considerable years of experience dealing with serious injuries in both the clinical and legal settings, having provided care and service to patients and clients alike throughout his career.

Ashleigh Fox

Advisor

Ashleigh studied the PGDL for an academic year following her graduation, before becoming a Team Manager working within a Clinical Negligence and Serious Injury department.

Ashleigh has previously worked for the NHS providing essential medical administration assistance whilst acquiring a foundational understanding of medicine within a primary care setting.  

She is now a specialist in assessing claimant enquiries at inception, assessing claimant prospects and deciding on the appropriate best practice for clients of the Brain Injury Group.

Daniel Mallard

Advisor

Daniel works as an advisor for BIG, bringing his knowledge as a Team Manager in the Clinical Negligence and Serious Injury Department in the medico-legal industry. 

He has over ten years’ experience supporting injured individuals. His cases have covered Neurology and Neuropsychology and brain injury clients where a multiple disciplinary approach has been required, involving multiple specialities.

He is driven by the ethos of helping his clients from initial injury and throughout the rehabilitation process. He has also worked as a volunteer.

Izzy Winn

Advisor

Izzy has a BSc in Zoology from The University of Leeds, where a focus on human biology sparked her interest to go into a more medical-focused career.  

Izzy is also a team Manager within the Clinical Negligence & Serious Injury department at UKExpertMedical. She has worked on 1000’s of medical-legal cases, including clients with complex brain injuries and is dedicated to enabling individuals to achieve the best financial, clinical and rehabilitation outcomes possible.

Jacob Corrin

Advisor

Before working with BIG, Jacob completed a medical degree which included placements in neurology and stroke medicine. He therefore has an understanding of the mechanisms behind brain injuries and their subsequent treatment.

He also volunteered at the Clatterbridge Rehabilitation Centre where he gained a deeper understanding of patients’ journeys to recovery. Before medicine, Jacob completed a law degree and so understands the legal challenges surrounding life-changing injuries.

Ikshya Chhetri

Advisor

Ikshya has completed an LLB Hons in Law and an LLM Masters in Law.  In addition to her role at BIG, she has worked in both the legal industry and the medico-legal sector since 2015, helping clients who have medical negligence issues including brain injuries.  

She has worked instructing medical experts for rehabilitation and clinicians on behalf of clients and their legal representatives.  

Ikshya has also taken legal and medical training in spinal injury and birth related brain injury.

Alexis Blades

Advisor

Alexis has 21 years experience working in the NHS and private health care sector. Her previous roles have involved maintaining medical notes and liaising on a daily basis with patients, medical professionals and health care providers which has developed her medical knowledge and communication skills.

Her background as a medical records analyst and medical records collator has developed her skill set and knowledge of the medico-legal sector.  

Her role for BIG  involves collating, indexing and paginating medical records, analysing medical records and providing a written summarised report of pertinent facts and key details along with preparing chronologies.  She is a conscientious, well motivated person who enjoys the challenge of helping her clients for BIG. 

Emma Trudgill

Clinical Advisor

Emma has worked as a registered midwife for just over 11 years. She has worked supporting families with a neonatal brain injury both through the clinical setting and through serious case reviews. She also has experience leading a social prescribing service assisting in the signposting and advice for families with children under 5 with complex needs, arising from their health condition.  

Emma now provides supporting advice to assist whereby there may be a claim for compensation.

Emily Wilkinson

Clinical Advisor

Emily’s early career gave her a privileged opportunity to work within a residential home with children diagnosed with learning disabilities and challenging behaviours, supporting with all aspects of care and teaching communication skills, mainly through the method of sign language. She then moved on to caring for palliative children, some of whom were palliative through accidents or injuries, others who were born with terminal illnesses. Here she was able to offer her clinical expertise within the home environment and provide families with all important respite care.

As well as working as an advisor for BIG, for the past 12 years she has worked within the emergency setting. She began with 2 years in A&E and 10 years (and continuing) frontline for the ambulance service, where she is often the first clinician on scene at life changing accidents and incidents. 

These situations can involve life saving treatment and the prevention of further life changing injuries, support to those involved directly or indirectly, mental health support, critical illness care, primary care and much more.
