The Alan Shearer Centre
West Denton Close
Newcastle upon Tyne
Owned and managed by St Cuthbert’s Care, the Alan Shearer Residential Home is part of a complex of three specialist disability services, offering on-site residential, short break and day resources.
Our six modern rooms are fully equipped to accommodate all needs and provide a home from home environment. Residents are encouraged to personalise their rooms to reflect their own identity and help encourage a sense of belonging.
We have unique access to the full range of sensory and therapeutic facilities of the Alan Shearer Activity Centre. Including sensory rooms, social café and a hydrotherapy pool to support visits from occupational and physio therapists to assist with structured rehabilitation plans.
Our site is set in an acre of beautiful gardens and accessible grounds, encompassing a woodland walk, a sensory garden and an area suitable for ball games, a picnic or relaxing and spending time with loved ones.
We recognise each person’s right to dignity and individuality, acknowledging their potential for development and independence, whilst identifying and accommodating various degrees of ability.
Working alongside external professional teams, we provide a tailored service to meet the individual needs of our residents and are driven by our four key principles – rights, independence, choice and social inclusion.
We receive full support from visiting professionals:
“The staff have been absolutely brilliant in helping facilitate a set routine and a structured day for one of my clients. This type of approach is crucial for many people who have sustained a severe head injury.”
