Designing and adapting living spaces
Our unique approach allows us to interpret complex medical and care needs into appropriate layouts and use of space. By working with us you can be sure that your client receives the support they need to live as independently as possible.
Our Occupational Therapists support individuals with a range of conditions, from catastrophic injuries or medical conditions to relatively minor needs.
We strive to create homes that clients can be proud of, not a clinical environment.
With up-to-date knowledge of the latest equipment, furniture and fittings for assistive living, including assistive technology, we can save clients substantial amounts of money by ensuring they purchase only the equipment they need.
Why use a Housing Occupational Therapy specialist?
Architects are usually aware of the requirements around improving access for wheelchair users.
However, they have not been trained to interpret complex medical conditions into an architectural design.
As Housing Occupational Therapist specialists we design layouts that work for clients and their carers. We are skilled at supporting people with cognitive, visual, and emotional impairments, as well as those with mobility problems.
We can help you to reduce the time spent on design, minimise potential design errors and best support your client’s current and future needs.
Finding a home for someone with substantial care needs is not a straightforward process, especially if you don’t have medical training.
Our first stage is to assess the client. By taking into account equipment and care needs we can present properties with the necessary space and facilities, and where minimal adaptation is required.
Our in-house property search expert can monitor the market daily, providing a selection of properties that take into account the client’s care, social and family needs.
Our MD, Anava Baruch, provides Accommodation Expert Witness services under Part 35 of the Civil Procedure Rules. Anava is currently the only OT offering accommodation Expert reports.
Her reports include consideration of the care environment, manual handling and rehabilitation. Anava can also provide a joint accommodation and equipment report.
She is known for her ability to think outside of the box and find creative solutions for complex problems. Anava offers national and international coverage.
People who employ carers are legally required to complete a risk assessment if those carers are involved with manual handling. Training is mandatory for carers if their work involves physical risk, particularly of back injuries.
We offer both manual handling risk assessments and training for teams of carers, whether employed or family members. This ensures that your client is properly cared for and, where appropriate, meeting their obligation as an employer.
